If God Is Dead, Why Is He Still Everywhere?

The question of whether theism is destined to fail is one that has been asked for centuries. So why doesn’t it seem to be going anywhere?

The term theism arose in the 17th century, mainly in opposition to deism, the Christian idea that while God reigned supreme over the universe he did not intervene in the course of everyday events and could only be known through rational thought. Theism, by contrast, held firm that God was “present” in the world and did in fact intervene in human affairs, as was demonstrated or “revealed” in the Bible (think Noah's ark).
