God Doesn't Guarantee a Broadway Smash

On Tuesday, the producers of the Broadway show "The Testament of Mary" got some good news: The production had received a Tony award nomination for Best Play. Too bad the show about Jesus' mother won't be around when the Tonys are given out on June 9. It is closing on Sunday.

"The Testament of Mary" is the latest show with a religious theme to fail on Broadway at a time when faith-centered entertainment in other media—like producer Mark Burnett's miniseries "The Bible," a major hit for the History Channel in March—have thrived.
