Alabama Mormons Follow Southern Baptist Lead

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has named Pete M. Johnson as Bessemer stake president, the first black regional leader for Mormons in Alabama.

A stake covers a geographic area. Johnson will oversee church programs in congregations for a large part of central and west Alabama.
